Today Ive slept long, realized Ive actually got twice my paycheck due to an bank error (http://www.vg.no/iphone/article.php?artid=559888), head into town and bought myself a pair of new, black Converse, met people in the shopping street carrying big signs saying FREE HUGS!, and hugged them both. Ive also had a caffe chock at Dromedar and read today’s newspaper, for free.

Now I’m at the bus stop, writing this using the wordpress app for iPhone, which or course could use an overhaul, but works like a charm when writing simple updates :)

I wish I had more time to update here to be honest. I have so much to write about, yet I really lack the motivation. I’m considering starting a separate blog for all my posts regarding gadgets, projects and whatnot, and just leave this place for my personal updates.

Many of the posts here contain stuff which really doesnt interest that many, which in turn means people dont come back for reading new updates.

There has been allot of stuff happening today though, but I’ve not been a part of it, seeing as I mostly do the paper pushing, and don’t take any phones, but to sum it all up:

• Several servers had problems with the mail service, which made mail have up to 6 hours delay.
• More servers had load of up to 10 (which is quite allot on Linux servers) which made several pages cease to work.
• Hackers had managed to intercept some SSH keys and compromised one (or more of our servers) and installed a rootkit.

All of this was fixed by the end of the day though, so no harm done. Our Polish server admin set new root passwords and we took down the source of the problem, an internal server at work that had been hijacked and drained for passwords.

Now I’m going to meet up with some friends in town, shopping and probably grab a coffee :)

Now I’m sure for most people, this doesn’t sound very exciting…. And that’s why it kind of annoys me that I have nobody to talk to about these things. All my geeky friends are in the south, and the ones here are either not THAT interested, or never free to meet up and have a chat. Hopefully I’ll find someone to rant to about all this soon, but for now it’s my blog that gets it. It’s what it’s there for I guess.

Anyway, I visited my new place yesterday and had a chat with the manager, one of the co-workers and had coffee. Everything seemed so chill and cool, and when I was there ,the guys were trying to figure out why a CMS called Mambo didn’t work on a certain server. Turns out there was some problems with the development of the system being stalled, and thereby running php4 and not 5, which made certain features of the system cease to work. Think they manged to solving the problem just by moving the system over to a different server. Also, they’re mostly running GNU/Linux on their servers, which makes it an ideal job for me!
After some hanging around, my boss showed me how some of their management systems worked and how they managed all the mail they were recieving. Turns out they had about 1200 domain registrationg waiting to be sent out. Which will be my primary job the first days (or weeks, depending on how fast I’ll be).

Not much else has happened these days though. Yesterday, after I had been visiting my new job, I went and met up with Sonja, Margrethe and Julian, and we went to Dromedar Nordre for a cup of Coffee and a chat. Weather was very nice and we spent an hour or two there, before I had to get to work and finish up my last couple of days at Norfakta A/S. I might take up a couple of days at Norfakta later on if it turns out I feel I can handle it, just to make a little extra money while working at Crystone. We’ll see :)

Today is the last day at Norfakta for now, and I’ll probably be taking it VERY cool this weekend. Seeing as Monday is a holliday, I’ll have a long weekend before starting at the new place. Man I’m looking forward to it! :D

Today I’ll probably try to do at least something (seeing as I have to pack my clothes etc. :p). I’m heading towards town soon to meet up with Alina at a café. She’s just finished her last exam of the year, the math exam. And is pretty exhausted from what I understand. Not only did she get about 4-5 hours sleep last night, but she also had to cram 19 examples and math formulas into one piece of paper. It seems like the whole thing went rather good though, so I’ve no doubt she’ll pass :)

Made a few changes to the page as you might have noticed as well. Removed the silly MSN and Skype status icons, seeing as they just made it look all cluttered, and they also pulled down the load time on the page quite allot. I did however add a widget which reads the latest updates on my videoDB, so you can see the latest 5 movies I’ve bought and added to my database.

Anyway, I should be off. I’ll probably (no doubt) be blogging when I’m on the train, and also when I arrive in Skien. Just to keep anyone that might be interested updated. Ciao!

And by the way, yesterday we didn’t end up going to café, meeting people and buying stuff on solsiden as planned, we ended up sitting on the computer lab until 11′o clock before we started heading home. Alina really needed to just finish “one” more before we were going to head home. Thanks to Erlend who saved the day, otherwise we’d probably stayed all night :s

Plans for the rest of the day involves (hopefully) café with some friends, then head to Alinas place to pack stuff and get the room ready for whomever the person moving in tomorrow is. We’ll see what happens, planning is really not my strong side :p

So now we´re sitting at the university lab, seems it´s possible to log into her account twice, so we´re both logged in to each our thin clients with her account now :) Which is fun, seeing as i can actually surf around a bit while she´s working on her Informatics school work for Friday. Currently we´re trying to make sense out of decimal to binary to hexadecimal conversion, which seems to be turning out ok.

Plans for the rest of the day, head towards town, buy some stuff on solsiden, grab a coffee and try to get some people to come, then head back to her place and clean/do the dishes and start packing some stuff for when she´ll be renting out her place for 5 days. Seeing she´ll get almost 4k for renting it out for 5 days, we decided it would be a good idea for her just to stay at my place that period, and make some easy money :p

Sitting here at the university really makes me feel sorry for not finishing school the proper way, and making an effort at an earlier age to get into university, because i really envy the people going here. Having a great time, studying lots of fun stuff (and well, not so fun stuff, but still…. I could live with that) and having access to some awesome in-university jobs and equipment. I´m not sure if i will ever finish my studies, and start university. Somehow i feel a bit too old to study, even though I might never be too old to study, I still feel like i wouldn’t fit in. Besides, I would probably have great difficulty studying anyway, because I’ve never been much good at theory, I´m more of the practical kind, I like to learn by working with what I´m supposed to learn in theory.

Well, time to finish up this post i guess. Alina went for a quick visit to Norli on Nordre to buy a book she needed for her Spanish class, and will probably be back soon. And I want to surf some sites and maybe check if there´s any new jobs available. Still need one after all :)

Yesterday i spent watching Knocked up (2006) which wasn’t really all it was cranked up to be. I mean, it’s got an 8.0 rating on imdb, and still i think it sucked pretty bad. I mean, it had its moments, but most of the time it was just a bunch of drama and clichés. Guess you can’t believe the ratings at imdb blindly all the time.

Oh yeah, Alina coloured her hair on Wednesday, and i must say, it ended up looking really awesome, it ended up being kind of copper/red-ish so it looks just stunning in the sunlight. The picture on the left i took when we were heading into town just after she had coloured it. (I must admit, i had the vivid colour mode turned on on my camera as well, but that ended up making the colours even more vibrant and warm.) I might consider colouring my hair as well now, all tough it will probably just end up being some dark shade of blue/brown or whatnot. Bright hair really won’t work on me, i think :]

As for my job hunt, nothing. It seems like my applications just end up in a black hole somewhere, and never return. All though i did get one reply the other day, but of course it said “Unfortunately we didn’t end up picking you”, which always sucks.
Anyway, i will probably get some more replies of the same character soon, so no need being all sad and depressed about it. Today I’ll probably get some more applications sent and bother some temp agencies again, but I’m really starting to think the temp agencies don’t give two cents about my interest in a job. I think they’re just happy they can sit around in their offices and say that they have a job themselves, and randomly mock the people visiting them behind their backs.

Today i haven’t done much of interest. I woke up, met Silje at a café and we sat talking for quite some time about this and that. Then we went shopping (or rather, she went shopping, and i was her faithful assistant) for clothes. Then i went back home. My days aren’t really as exciting as i wished them to be, but i guess it’s only as interesting as you make it yourself.

Oh, and i put together an rasterbation! But, I’m not going to say what it is, it’s going to be a surprise for those coming to my moving-in party this coming Saturday :)

Tomorrow, it’s back on the streets again. Hopefully I’ll manage to at least visit a couple of temp agencies before i meet up with Alina again. It’s been a week since i last saw her, and I’ve been looking forward to seeing her again for what seems an eternity. Hopefully we’ll still get along and have a nice day. She’s moving to Trondheim and should probably be done moving in by tomorrow.

Which means I’ve been staying in all day trying to keep myself busy. Mostly I’ve just been lying on the couch watching movies or sitting in front of my computer updating facebook every 5 seconds. I was supposed to go to the cinema today, but seeing as I’m flat broke as usual, and the small matter of my head being a bucket of goo, i decided to stay in.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better. Got allot of stuff to get done over the weekend, so i can’t just stay in and be sick all week. Tomorrow I’ll probably try to get some fly paper, deliver a ton of books at the library, then relax for some coffee before i go pester a couple of temp agencies. Then it’s off home to clean the kitchen with Hanna, which (hopefully) is done with her own room by then. If everything goes well , there will be two empty rooms in this house ready for renting :)

So if anyone knows anyone, or know someone that knows someone, that needs a place to live in Trondheim, don’t be afraid to get in touch. I’m really keen on getting someone i know, or someone someone i know, knows. Rather then a total stranger.

Well, not much to write really. Mostly hanging around with friends these days, having lots of coffee and just enjoying the company of others. Been hanging out allot with the Rana people lately and having a really good time. Finally managed to push allot of comics onto Elin, so she’ll hopefully be reading allot of Preacher, Sandman, Lenore and JTHM these days. Hopefully she’ll get addicted ^^.

Hanna is running around like a headless chicken trying to get rid of all her trash, all tough i doubt she’ll really get rid of anything, but rather stash it away in the attic, the garage and other places she’ll find that can fit all the stuff she wants to save. In my case I’d just trash it all and save as little as possible, but then again I’m not much of a collector.

And our verdamnt flies are back, so me and Hanna are going to try and clean up the kitchen again tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes, but hopefully we’ll get it done soon so we don’t have to live with these buggers for ages again.

And i really wish the weather will get better soon. I hate it when it’s cold, gray and raining. I’m actually having to wear my jacket again these days, seeing as the weather has dropped a whopping 20 degrees in just 2 days!
