Friday:
So, it was maybe about time i wrote the last entry about Storås in my blog, right? Well okay, here goes. Even though I’m back home and have been so since 5 am yesterday i still have some stuff to tell.
Well, first of i managed to get one of my earplugs stuck in my left ear…which sucked pretty bad, but after some hectic work with the one end of my glasses i managed to get it out somehow. Was kind of freaked out there for a moment.
Anyway, after my previous blog it was time to go to the Kakkmaddafakka concert at huldra. Safe to say we were all pretty psyched about it, seeing as we were the ones walking around all day every day with camp kakkmaddafakka t-shirts and having a big banner above our camp that said the same. We met up in due time outside the concert hall and prepared our setup for the concert, because we each had a letter in the name kakkmaddafakka on our backs, we had to stand correct according to which letter was going first and so forth when we were going to turn around and face the band.
So after having everything set up, the band started playing, and just as they arrived, we all turned our backs at them at the same time and spelled out the name right in their faces. Safe to say they seemed pretty stunned :D Great fun. They had a really awesome concert with lots of energy and one crazy piano guy. After the concert allot of the girls wanted to head backstage and get some autographs plus maybe even invite them over to our camp later that evening. We ran to the back and after a little while, they actually came out and a few of the girls managed to get their t-shirts autographed.
Next up on the plan was Åge Alexandersen on solscenen. Safe to say there was allot of people…..both old and young. Now, i can understand that most of the trønder people really enjoyed that concert, but as for me, a guy from down south, i really can’t appreciate him the same way these people do, so i didn’t really bother paying much attention to the concert.
Back in camp we just relaxed for some time, hanging out and people starting to get quite drunk. After staying there for a while, next band up was Gogol Bordello. Me however didn’t bother heading down right away, seeing as me and Iselin really got to talking and i didn’t know much about the band, so i wasn’t that particularly interested in seeing them. After chatting with Iselin for a while about horses and whatnot, 2 people showed up and asked if they could have a seat, turns out it was 2 of the members from Kakkmaddafakka! Everyone got really psyched and tried desperately to get in touch with the people watching Gogol Bordello and tell them that kakkmaddafakka was in camp. Sadly none of them replied or picked up the phone, so we just sat chatting with the guys for a while. After about half an hour they decided to leave to get something to eat. They said they’d might come back later, but weren’t totally sure.
By then i had been listening to Gogol Bordello from down stage for some time, and figured I’d maybe go down and have a listen, and at the same time see if i could get a hold of some of the guys down there.
I stumble upon Stian, Julian and Elin standing outside the beer stand trying to get their notes exchanged for beer. I tell them all abut Kakkmaddafakka visiting us in camp, but it seems they didn’t believe us, seeing as we had been kidding earlier that day about them coming to visit us.
After listening to Gogol Bordello and some other bands we decide to head back to camp and hang out there for a while, in hope that Kakkmaddafakka might turn up again, and they did! After a few hours the entire band turns up :o 10 guys and one girl + some friends of the band hang around in our camp and talk to us. By then people were pretty drunk (all except me and Elin seeing as we both didn’t have or bothered to drink that much), and talking more or less total rubbish, disrespecting the band and generally being typical drunkards. Several other people stumble into our camp later on and just hang around with the others.
First at around 4′o clock the band decides it’s about time they leave, seeing as their plane was going to leave at around 5 am, and they got another show to play later that day.
At around 5 people are starting to get really drunk, and several really annoying people start turning up. One being this total sleaze ball trying to flirt with all the girls, and guys in our camp and generally being a real ass. After freaking out the girls for a while, we throw him out of the camp. By the Stian had been drinking so much that he had disappeared for quite some time. Inger-Lise decided it was about time he’d go find him and figure out what had happened to him. After a little while, i really needed to go to the bathroom, so i head up into the woods to take a leak. Just as i enter the woods i hear Inger-Lise yelling for me to come over. Turns out Stian had fallen asleep in the woods, completely smashed and blubbering incoherently. Me and Inger-Lise both tried to comfort him as much as possible and help him as best we could, but we both figured that we couldn’t just take him back to camp, seeing as there was still quite allot of people there. So i went back to camp and persuaded Elin to come with me and maybe stay with Inger-Lise for a while. Just as she came with me, Kenneth also joined and him and Inger-Lise helped Stian back into camp while me and Elin threw some people out and told the ones that belonged to the camp to stay quiet not to upset Stian too much.
After that we decided it would probably be about time to go to bed, so me and Elin went back into our tent and tried to go to sleep. Turns out people were still partying pretty hard all around us, and some guy in the tent next to us snored like a maniac, so we got some earplugs and tried as best we could to go to sleep. After a few minutes Julian turned up and joined us as well, he was pretty sober too and had decided it was about time to go to sleep as well.
Saturday:
Most of Saturday consisted of people having great anxiety attacks after being drunk the night before. Most people not remembering much and most of the day consisted for the most part of laughing at the people that were the most drunk last night, and what they did and said.
After people had settled down a bit, me, Stian, Inger-Lise and Elin wanted to go check out the chill out zone up in the woods, so we headed for the woods. There we came upon a couple sitting by this really cozy fire, and they were really thrilled to see us. We joined them, grilled some sausages, got some coffee from the nice couple and shared some stories about our experiences at the festival so far. By far my best day during the weekend. After staying there for a while we thought it was about time to head back down to camp and check out what people were doing, before heading into the festival area to watch some more concerts. By then it had really started raining allot for the first time during the festival (even though it had been predicted tons of rain during the past days). After getting back to camp it really started pouring down and everyone got soaked to the bone. We sat in camp for a while, got some warm clothes and talked before heading down to watch some concerts.
Ex-Girl was the first ones we watched, and i personally was really thrilled to see them again. It had been 6 years since i last saw them on café radio in Skien and i must say, they hadn’t really changed much. Still same strange music and costumes. Still, it was a fun concert and it was enjoyable to see them again after such a long time. Next up was Big Bang, which in my opinion isn’t much interesting except for their one song called “Pretties girl in Oslo”, which i really enjoy, the rest is pretty much crap, so during the concert me and Elin went to the food tent and got something to eat.
Earlier that day me and Elin had both decided we should might as well head home with the night buss that day, seeing as no concerts really interested us, and s
he was going to work the next day at around 5pm, so she’d rather take the buss at 3:30 then 8:30 in the morning. Anyway, by this time it was pouring down and the camp really started to look a bit like crap, literally. There was so much mud everyone it was impossible to walk properly and being the moron i am, i of course only had converse to the festival…. so they became just piles of mud around my feet as i walked around. Well, after a few more concerts we met up with Stian and Inger-Lise again, which both wanted to go back to the chill out zone to see the fire show they were having there was all about.
Sunday:
We head back into the forest and after some troubles finding the road, we finally stumbled upon the zone again. Now there was loads of people there, drinking and having a great time. There was also a tiny band playing background music and some people doing acrobatics with sticks and other stuff on fire. After sitting there for a while watching them and people, me and Elin figured it would be about time to head back down to camp and start packing for our way back into Trondheim.
As we returned to camp, first person i meet i Julian sitting there alone, saying “why are you so late?”, turns out he was going with us as well, but hadn’t told us, so now he was annoyed because we were supposed to take down the tent for Kenneth a bit earlier, but now we didn’t have time, so we just had to rush packing our stuff and head straight for the buss. We finally got to the buss after fighting our way trough piles of mud and drunk people. Tired, dirty and wet we got on the buss and started our way into Trondheim. Julian almost fell asleep, but i had a hard time doing so, mostly because of the incredibly annoying girl talking constantly about crap with her boyfriend, very loud and with a terrible annoying voice. The fact that she was really really drunk made it all even worse.
After what seemed an eternity, we finally arrived back in Trondheim. After dragging our way back home, first thing i did was pull of everything i wore, and jumped straight in the shower. That was probably the best shower I’d ever had ever….seeing as i hadn’t had a shower for 3 days, and was probably covered in beer, mud and sweat from head to toe, it’s no big surprise. Then i arranged my stuff, cleaned out my shoes (which by then was so full of mud i had to wash them in the shower first) and put my shoes in the washing machine. Then it was straight for bed. I fell asleep almost right away and slept until 3′o clock. Rest of the day was more or less just relaxing and getting all my stuff in order.
In the evening Silje and Andreas asked me out on cinema and we watched The Simpson’s movie with Julian and Margrethe.
All in all, it was a great festival, rain, morons and lack of showering all things considered. I will most probably go next year as well, if i have the chance to :)
